Federal 2021 Budget: An Historic Turning Point For Affordable, Quality Child Care Across The Country

There was some cause for celebration in the 2021 Federal Budget for funding child care.

Child care advocates say the federal budget marks an historic turning point for children and families and will bring about a better, fairer and faster economic recovery.

The federal budget laid-out a multi-year budget plan to make child care programs more accessible, affordable and inclusive.  This includes a plan to help reduce parent fees to $10 a day within five years. Bringing down parent fees by publicly funding the operation of regulated child care services is the best way to build a universal system that is good for the sector, for children and that is affordable for parents.

MANDATORY CPC FACE COVERING

April  12,2021

On March 12, Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) issued a direction in writing to the Canada Post Corporation (CPC) following an inspection conducted at the Montreal Bridge Depot, in Quebec

According to ESDC, Canada Post failed to ensure that the face coverings worn by employees were in compliance with the recommendations of the Public Health Agency of Canada, i.e. a two-layer face covering (or non-medical mask) with a third filtering layer or a medical mask, also known as a procedure mask (disposable blue mask).

Vancouver Local 846 Celebrates APRIL: Sikh Heritage Month

Bill 52 2013 – An Act to proclaim the month of April as Sikh Heritage Month

 

Diversity is the key to the Canadian values, and April is an important month for the Sikh community. The month of April is Sikh Heritage Month, Proclaimed by Parliament on April 30, 2019, this month recognizes and highlights the important contribution that Sikh communities have made and continue to make Canada’s social, economic, political, and cultural heritage. The first of its kind in the world, Sikh Heritage Month is a celebration of arts, culture and heritage. The bill was unanimously passed by the Senate, and received royal assent from the Governor General.

help us to promote the Special Needs and
Moving On Projects with members in your
workplace.

The Special Needs and Moving On are
projects of the CUPW Child Care Fund. The
Special Needs project supports members
with young children (0 – 18 years) who have
special needs. The Moving On Project
supports members who have primary care
responsibility for their adult daughters and
sons with disabilities.
