Organization Committee Meeting: May 28, 2015

YOU ARE INVITED!

The Organization Committee invites YOU to its next scheduled meeting! The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has a proud history of Active Community Involvement. Add your valuable input and have a voice, if not a vote with our Committee. We are a Social Force that has brought great things to people besides their Amazon orders and letters from Grandma. For example, in 1981, as a result of a forty-two (42) day strike, CUPW successfully negotiated Maternity leave. This was later extended to other government workers and is now a benefit that is extended to all Canadians. This summer marks the 50th year Anniversary of the Job Action that separated the wheat from the chaff. Look how far we have come, look how far we have yet to go. Where will you be when the action starts; which side are YOU on?

Special GMM to ratify contract demands – May 12, 2015

SPECIAL GENERAL

MEMBERSHIP

MEETING

To Ratify Contract Demands

May 12, 2015, 5:00 pm

at the Union Hall

(4530 Dawson Street, Burnaby)

On April 11 we had a meeting in Vancouver to formulate contract demands for the next round of negotiations. Once the demands are put together they need to be ratified at a General Membership Meeting prior to being submitted to our Regional Office.

Unfortunately we did not have quorum at our GMM April 23, 2015 and were unable to ratify the demand package. If the demand package is not ratified by the membership the Vancouver Local does not get to submit any demands for negotiations.

As the deadline for Demands to be submitted falls before our next scheduled General Membership Meeting, we are calling this special meeting to pass the demands we will submit.

These Demands will be the sole item on the agenda so the meeting will be focused and should be relatively short in length.

Please support CUPW’s democratic process and attend this meeting.

Organization Committee REMINDER!

The Organization Committee invites YOU to its next scheduled meeting! The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has a proud history of Active Community Involvement. That was later extended to other government workers and is now a benefit that is extended to all Canadians. This summer marks the 50th year anniversary of the Job Action that separated the wheat from the chaff, the Wildcat of ‘65. (Watch MEMORY & MUSCLE on YouTube.) Look how far we have already come; from fighting for pay equity, and look how far we have yet to go; to fighting to preserve our pensions. Where will you be when the action starts; which side are YOU on?
