October 16th is Canada Post’s 32nd anniversary as a Crown corporation. CUPW National will be marking this anniversary with an action in Ottawa. This action will emphasize that Canada Post cannot cut its way to a better future and that it has another option that has worked at postal administrations around the world. The Corporation could add banking and financial services to improve its financial picture and preserve public postal services and jobs.
To this end, CUPW will be employing a “Banking on a future for Canada Post” theme on October 16th.
As part of this action we will be distributing buttons with the same message to all members in the Vancouver local.
We ask our members to please support this action by wearing these buttons on October 16th, 2013.
Management needs to know that the members understand that the corporation has options other than cutting and that they support the union’s position on postal banking.
In Solidarity,
Andy Henderson
Secretary-Treasurer
