TO: ALL MEMBERS – PACIFIC REGION
RE: CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR THE
NATIONAL WORK MEASUREMENT COMMITTEE
This is an invitation for all CUPW members in good standing to put their names forward as a delegate from the Pacific Region to the National Work Measurement Committee. This Committee is made up of two delegates (one Brother and one Sister) from each of CUPW’s eight Regions. One delegate from our Region should be knowledgeable in the Mail Service Courier Workload Structuring System, and the other delegate from our Region should be knowledgeable in the Letter Carrier Route Measurement Systems.
The mandate of this Committee is outlined in Article 4.11 of our National Constitution.
- assist in the standardization of the work measurement systems and make recommendations in the National Executive Board to improve this;
- study and review education courses for the LCRMS and MSCWSS or any other work measurement system that may be introduced and make recommendations to the National Executive Board;
- review grievances and arbitrations on the work measurement system;
- assist in the development and implementation of a membership information system on the work measurement system and make recommendations to the National Executive Board;
- review the state of work measurement systems and make recommendations to the National Executive Board;
- prepare a written report on their findings and recommendations to the National Executive Board twice a year.
It is an important and exciting time for this Committee. The Work Measurement Systems are under intense scrutiny from both CUPW and CPC, and the Committee will have an important role.
The Committee meets once a year.
The Committee members are chosen by the 4th National Vice-President in conjunction with the National Executive Board.
If you are interested, please send a letter to myself at the CUPW Regional office, 999 Carnarvon Street, New Westminster, B.C. V3M 1G2 outlining your experience with either the Letter Carriers Route Measurement System or the Mail Service Courier Workload Structuring System, and a brief statement as to why you wish to be on the Committee by December 14, 2011 in order to be considered by the Regional Executive Committee.
I would like to thank the following members who served on the National Work Measurement Committee in the past term for all their hard work and their many accomplishments:
Sister Karen De Francesco
Brother Hugh Englouen
Their contributions to the struggle did not go unnoticed
In solidarity,
John Bail
National Director
