Join us for Car Free day on Commercial Drive!
July 8th 2018 from 12:00pm-7:00pm.
Together with Delivering Community Power, CUPW will have an information booth at the Commercial Drive Car Free day along with a creative area with a create a post-card/ write a letter station.
Stop by, say “hi” and enjoy the fun, creative atmosphere. This unique cultural event is a great opportunity to connect with each other without vehicles and imagine a greener world.
Car Free Day celebrates the vibrancy of Vancouver’s diverse neighbourhoods by organizing an annual arts and culture festival that reclaims traffic thoroughfares as community focused public spaces. This allows artists, local residents, performers, artisans, non-profits, and businesses to interact, engage, and re-imagine spaces normally reserved for vehicle traffic. It continues to be a green and grassroots effort, directed and organized by the local residents in each Car Free Day neighbourhood.
There are also 3 other Car- free day festivals. Keeping to the spirit of the original Car Free Days, each festival is produced by members from these neighbourhoods and thus reflects the talents, aspirations and culture particular to these communities.
