Basic Shop Steward Course November 16 & 17, 2018 8AM – 4PM (Friday and Saturday)

Are you interested in being a Shop Steward, or do you want to know more about the collective agreement and your rights on the work floor?  This two day course offers a variety of tools and skills in navigating the work floor as a Shop Steward.

Recently I was approached by the Western Region Health & Safety officer Patrick McGraw along with Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) Manager Wendy Lund and HRBP Hilda Vega, regarding the plant rules. I was asked by Mr McGraw if I knew what the plant rules were. I responded, “Yes I know and that’s why I am wearing steel toed shoes and a safety vest”. Mr. McGraw then asked me if I knew the rules around jewellery and hair. I said, “yes and I am also aware of the agreement between both parties to conduct risk assessments if any issues arise”. “Advanced Shop Steward” Course & “Unionism on Turtle Island” Course

The Pacific Region is pleased to announce that the next 5-day Education Seminars will held in conjunction with the Prairie Region in Gimli, Manitoba from September 23 to 28, 2018. These are Paid Education Leave (PEL) courses so we are limited to twenty (20) participants in total or ten (10) in each class per Region.
