Part-Time Secretary-Treasurer’s Schedule 2019

Due to local bylaw changes the Vancouver Secretary-Treasurer position is now part-time. Please the schedule below for dates the Secretary-Treasurer will be in the office. This schedule respects the local bylaws requirement to work 10 days per month on the work floor for Canada Post.

May 1st – 3rd, 27th – 31st
June 3rd – 7th , 17th – 21st
July 2nd – 5th, 15th – 19th and 29th – 31st
August 1st & 2nd, 12th – 16th, 26th – 30th
September 9th – 13th, 23rd – 27st
October 7th -11th, 21st – 25th
November 4th – 8th, 18th to 22nd
December 2nd – 6th, 16th – 20th , 30th & 31st

During the times where the local Secretary-Treasurer is not scheduled in the local office, concerns and questions can be emailed to the Secretary-Treasurer. In urgent cases, members should contact another officer at the Vancouver Local.

Please note the office is closed on all statutory holidays applicable to CUPW members and that while this schedule may be adjusted during the course of the year any
changes will be published and made available to the membership.

GET YOUR EYE GLASSES BY DECEMBER 31, 2018.

If you or any of your eligible dependents (your spouse, or your children under 18, or 18-25 year of age, full time at post secondary education) need glasses, get them now. This is because the current four year period for our vision plan ends on December 31, 2018.   If you have not used your entitlement for this current four year period it will evaporate. COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION – Rally December 1, 2018 at noon.

After almost a year of negotiations, over 5 weeks of rotating strikes and the adoption of an unconstitutional law suspending negotiations there were some who thought the fight was over. WRONG! The ground has shifted, there is an updated playbook and there are some new players on the field.

This past week, supporters of free collective bargaining have been raising their voices in support of postal workers and decent working conditions. In Vancouver, Hamilton, Windsor, Whitehorse, Halifax and Edmonton protests have erupted at or near postal facilities. Voices have been raised and the message clearly heard that the government cannot sweep their latest attack on the rights of workers under the rug. Labour to rally in support of postal workers Thursday at noon in Vancouver

The BC Federation of Labour is organizing a rally Thursday at noon in downtown Vancouver in support of Canada Post workers whose collective bargaining rights are under attack by the Trudeau Liberal government.

Outgoing BCFED President Irene Lanzinger will be among the speakers.
