Shift 1 PPC will be starting at midnight for its normal  operations.

9.5 ELECTION OF COMMITTEES AND DELEGATES

  1. The election of delegates to the National Convention of the Union shall be in accordance with section 3.05 of the National Constitution.
  2. Each local is entitled to be represented by one delegate for the first       one hundred members or less, and by one delegate for each additional one hundred members or majority part thereof.
  3. Each delegate, in order to be elected to National Convention, must have attended the Preconvention Regional Conference. A member may be excused from this requirement by the Local and the National Director only for performing Union Business, sickness, bereavement leave or truly exceptional circumstances.

LEADERSHIP SKILLS

HARRISON HOT SPRINGS

FEBRUARY 12 – 17, 2023

The Pacific Region has scheduled a 5-day Leadership Skills course from February 12 – 17, 2023. This CUPW course will be held as part of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) Winter School at the Harrison Hot Springs Resort & Spa, 100 Esplanade Avenue, Harrison Hot Springs, B. C.

This course provides an opportunity for union activists to collectively analyze and work on the challenges involved in representing and mobilizing the membership.

It provides an opportunity for newer union activists to hone their skills and for long time leaders to reenergize.

Participants work on their communication and shop floor organizing skills and assess the challenges ahead. Included are sessions on face-to-face communications, CUPW and the media, building allies, and workplace organizing.

 The deadline for registration is 12 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2022. Please ensure your applications are in by that date, any application received after the deadline will not be considered. Space is limited to 20 participants.

To be considered, all applications must be signed and submitted by the Local President or designated.

As this course is offered under the PEL provisions of our collective agreement, all costs including loss of wages, transportation and meals will be paid by the National Union.

There will be some evening sessions involved and that all sessions of the course are mandatory.

VANCOUVER LOCAL CONTEST FOR KIDS UNDER 12YRS OLD

For the first time ever, the Vancouver local is inviting kids under 12yrs old to take part in a letter writing contest. This contest is for the families of postal workers from the Vancouver local.

Contestants will have to submit no less than 500 words.

HOW THE SPIRIT OF GIVING CAN MAKE CHANGES AROUND THE WORLD”

The best 2 letters will receive PRIZES!

  • 1st Prize 50-dollar Gift Card
  • 2nd Prize 25-dollar Gift Card

Deadline to receive letters on December 19th. Any letters received after December 19th will be automatically disqualified.
