CUPW is Hiring Four Members as Co-ordinators

CUPW is hiring four co-ordinators to help with campaigns relating to the review of the Canadian Postal Service Charter, the attack on the Rand formula, service expansion and reduction at Canada Post and the upcoming federal election. For more information on these campaigns, see Perspective May 2013 at: http://www.cupw.ca/index.cfm/ci_id/14537/la_id/1 One co-ordinator will work out of CUPW National Office in Ottawa, while the remaining three positions will be based in CUPW regional offices in Western Canada (Vancouver or Winnipeg), Eastern Canada (Toronto, Ottawa or Halifax) and Quebec (Montreal or Quebec City).

Responsibilities

  • Work with locals and regions to:

    • Support the efforts of community allies during the review of the Canadian Postal Service Charter and ensure that meetings with Members of Parliament and municipalities are conducted.

    • Support the labour movement’s campaign to maintain the Rand formula.

    • Provide assistance on the service reduction and expansion campaign as necessary.

    • Make postal service an issue in the next election.

    • Provide detailed reports on the aforementioned activities to the 1st National Vice-President and the 3rd National Vice President.

    • Work with CUPW’s communications and research department.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work well on own and with others

  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines

  • Strong writing skills

  • Strong organizing skills. Experience with community organizing or union organizing campaigns is an asset

  • Experience in and commitment to the labour or other social change movements

  • All applicants will be considered however bilingual is preferred (English and French)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and other computer programs.

Pay: The union representative rate. Relocation per diem will be provided if applicable.
