Letter Carrier Shop Stewards
We have a schedule of our upcoming Letter Carrier – Shop steward meetings for February – April, 2013.
As union activists, taking the time to learn together, communicate & plan is the key to the work that needs doing for the Union. We have reserved space in the board room at the union hall & are using the same venue downtown that we have used successfully in the past as it has space & is usually pretty quiet in the later afternoon. Both venues are easily accessed by sky train/bus & the Union Hall has free parking outside or near by, the parking meters around 349 West Georgia are not the most expensive & it is a short walk from there to VFS.
Union Hall Boardroom – 4530 Dawson Street, Burnaby (at the back of the building, office on side closest to Willingdon)
Vancouver Film School Cafe – find free tables at the back or upstairs if open – 392 West Hastings Street, Vancouver.
After canvassing several folks & based on our experience of organizing – we are starting up with a: 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm time frame. Trust me – I won’t be able to get there for 2:00 pm most of the time either – but these time frames are middle ground for most folk & we can join in when we arrive. If that time can never work with your shift – let’s find another way to meet with/communicate with each other – let’s get creative!
All meetings scheduled from 2:00pm – 5:00pm & may be subject to change if necessary.

To begin – let’s meet to talk about holding floor meetings to talk about our issues and our agenda – what is important to us on the floor. Let’s ask each other questions, share our concerns of what is happening on our work floors & what we can do about it, share information regarding the struggles of other workers, struggles for social justice, our environment, etc. Each meeting can easily hold some time & space for a little bit of info sharing, connecting, educating each other, practicing skills or planning action.
All of us are busy. All of us have many commitments, etc. All of us are needed if we are going to educate & organize ourselves on the work floor.
I hope that you can find some time to participate in learning & information sharing – united we stand, divided (uneducated & unorganized) we fall.
