Notice of motions were presented at the November 10, 2015, Special Membership Meeting. Copies of the Notices of Motions are attached to this bulletin.

Motion 1 seeks to change the times and book-offs for the shop steward meetings.
Motion 2 seeks to change the compensation for the activists and advocates working more than forty (40) hours a month replacing a full time officer or as a WCB or arbitration advocate.
Motion 3 seeks to change the language of the Chief Stewards to reflect the PPC and remove mention of the VMPP and VPDC, as well as update the numbers and the functions of the positions.
Motion 4 seeks to allow an Executive Chief Steward’s position to be opened up for election if they do not attend three (3) consecutive executive meetings in a row, unless approved by the Executive Committee.
Motion 5 seeks to allow for an honorarium to be paid to the Executive Chief Stewards and Chief Stewards for out-of-pocket expenses such as cell phones and mileage that is not currently reimbursed by the Local.
As these motions seek to amend the Local bylaws, they are to be posted on the Union bulletin boards for members’ information, in accordance with section 10.01 G (1) of the Local Bylaws. The motions will be debated and voted on at the Sunday, November 22, 2015, General Membership Meeting to be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Maritime Labour Centre, 1880 Triumph Street, Vancouver.
Motions to amend the Local bylaws require approval by a two-thirds majority of the members present and voting at the meeting. Such motions must not conflict with the National Constitution of the Union.
