Pacific & Prairie 5-Day Joint Educational

September 22-27, 2024 @ Gimli, MB

Political Action / Media Training

We live in challenging times. The future of the postal service and trade unionism is at risk. There is no use in pretending otherwise. This course is about shaking up things, moving our heads beyond grievances, arbitrations and consultations that do little to improve the daily life of the average worker while postal service is decimated. Effective use of media – which take different forms – can strongly contribute to a successful campaign. In this, participants will develop a critical understanding of media, learn general media skills and how to create and deliver a clear effective message. We also explore the use of social and community media.

Please note participants for this course must either have a position on their local executive or who are strongly active within their local membership and/or their community.

 Leadership for Local Executive Committee

This 5-day course is specifically designed for Local Executive Committee members. It delves into the core principles, approaches, and perspectives of leadership, providing a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to lead effectively within a union context. Participants will explore how to navigate the complexities of union leadership, uncover their own leadership potential, and develop the specific skills necessary for successful leadership within their Local.

Please note participants for this course must hold a position on their local executive.

These courses present a unique opportunity for both Regions to work collaboratively on the challenges we face daily. By joining forces, we can build a stronger, united front that tackles issues with greater efficacy and innovation. Additionally, participating in these courses allows us to reenergize and gain fresh perspectives, fostering a sense of renewal and commitment to our shared goals.
