The Secret Path

CUPW Vancouver Local Organizing Committee would like to invite you to a 2nd Viewing of The Secret Path on the  evening of the Inaugural National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as we listen to song, and view  animations of Chanie Wenjack.

Chanie Wenjack was a young boy who died on October 22,1966, alone. Chanie escaped the Cecilia Jeffrey Indian residential school to reunite with his family 600km away in Ogaki Post, Ontario. He was one of many victims of the colonization.

This will be an open invitation to you and your family on the Zoom platform:

Please go to cupwvancouver.org for the zoom link on September 30th before 7pm

We will be posting a link through the zoom chat for our members to donate to the Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack Fund.

Before Gord Downie of The Tragically Hip passed away in 2017, he took on a final task in his life to bring attention to Canada’s dark past and try to change the state of Indigenous-settler relations, and a cultural understanding and awareness of the residential school system.

Gord wrote 10 poems and turned them into book and song. Please join us on September 30th, 2021, at 7:00PM as we share Chanie’s unfortunate story and bring more awareness to Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation.

In Solidarity,

Kevin Biggs, Organizing Director
